Overview

When our good friend Dom was diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease in 2017, Suzanna Mavity suggested a get together or ‘something’ for Dom. The ideas started and we formulated a plan.

Dom said nobody would join, but we had other ideas……. and it became even bigger than we expected. We have now raised over £200,000!

Huntington's disease is a condition that stops parts of the brain working properly over time. It's passed on (inherited) from a person's parents. It gets gradually worse over time.

Do it for Dom was founded and launched in 2017 by Suzanna Mavity, Sales Director of Acaboom with energetic and moral support from the enigma Simon Whale.

2018 saw the launch of our first event tackling Snowden. Held over 2 days with 50 joining from the industry we raised £70,000 through Just Giving for The Huntington’s Disease Association.

2019 we doubled in size with 100 suppliers and agents canoeing 33 miles over 2 days on the River Wye. It was a testing challenge with so much fun. This event raised over £75,000 through Just Giving directly for Huntington’s Disease Association

2020 – 2022 due to covid we were forced to go quiet for large events but still managed a few smaller personal events raising in total over £44,000 in the two years. This included Suzanna climbing Kilimanjaro over Christmas, Kristian Byfield dressing as a Viking for events, Mark Bevan’s bike ride and a team of us taking part in the Agents Giving Dragon Boat Race.

Following on from the success of raising over £200,000, the Do It For Dom Charity has now been established. We will continue to raise funds and focus on helping people within our industry suffering from or believed to be suffering from mental and physical health conditions, providing support to them and their families, assisting with and funding home adaptations. We will also continue to support the charity Huntington’s Disease Association.

2023 has already had a great start. With the support from Agents Giving and Peter Knight’s EA Master Conference 2023 over £20,000 has been raised. This will springboard us into the main event in May where we hope to raise a further £50,000.
