Tom Gilbert - I joined Sort Group in April 2019 as the Head of Estate Agency services and ever since we’ve been busy working on an extensive road map for our Sort Move proposition. I previously spent 16 years at LSL Property Services where I held a number of key senior roles. These included a position of Senior Branch Manager of a flagship Reeds Rains office as well as Operations Manager for the Conveyancing arm of the group. Working in the industry for many years and walking in the Agents’ shoes puts me in a balanced position to understand the true needs of Estate Agents and their clients through the home moving journey. It’s this balanced outlook, paired with Sort Group’s industry presence and knowledge, that has allowed us to create a proposition that puts the needs of Agents and their clients at the forefront. As a previous Agent myself, I think the key to success is a clear focus and strategy around service quality, good collaborations with industry partners and adding value to the brand to provide a well-rounded offering. I’m excited to showcase Sort Move fully to the wider Agent community, we are working on some innovative products and services. Our existing introducer partners provide valuable input and feedback. Sort Move will always be by and for property professionals.
Laura Burkinshaw - Laura is the Head of Legal Practice at Sort Legal who have offices in Derby and Cardiff, at the moment they are concentrating on building their staffing levels to increase the amount of sale and purchase work they can take in whilst maintaining their remortgage offering. Prior to being at Sort Legal, Laura was HOLP at Dezrezlegal in Swansea, starting the Company in 2009. Laura holds practising certificates for both the CLC and SRA due to having qualified as a Solicitor but converting to CLC regulation when starting Dezrezlegal. Laura also holds a seat on the Board of the SLC.
Louise Moss - Louise has a passion for delivering services that we all need. Working to deliver uncomplicated processes, brilliant customer experiences, commercial gain with integrity, all with an injection of entrepreneurial spirit is at the heart of her business principles. Leading & Championing SDL Property Auctions to deliver significant revenue to Estate Agents through auctions and to encourage market growth in the UK auction market. Trust in her teammates and the integrity of SDL Property Auctions makes this a very rewarding time in Louise's career.
Stephanie Walker - Property Industry veteran Stephanie started her Estate Agency career in 2003 and has spent time building and leading Estate Agency businesses, gaining a uniquely positioned pedigree in both traditional and hybrid estate agency through many roles; including as a successful Senior Branch Manager for Countrywide, as Area Manager for the largest independent estate agent in Merseyside but most notably, as a founding member and integral part of the Purplebricks Global Management Team from 2015 to 2019. After leaving The States and returning to the UK, Steph has spent much of 2020 mentoring self-employed estate agents ahead of launching a new self employed estate agency brand alongside her business partners in December 2020.
Liana Loporto-Browne - Liana has over 22 years’ experience in the property industry working in both large corporate and boutique agencies and now the Director of Liana Loporto Property powered by eXp. Having started her career at the largest real estate company in her native Malta, Liana then re-located to the UK, in what was supposed to be a sabbatical. Her experience in “the most vibrant property market in the world” with one of the leading corporate agencies in London meant she never left. Liana is obsessed with changing the face of the industry to allow all the great agents across the country shine, which is one of the reasons she a huge believer in RoPA and has recently been appointed as President Elect for NAEA Propertymark.
What we’ll be discussing
- The need to address Conveyancing much earlier in the process, right at the start for sellers. Delays will increase the likelihood of a ‘fall through’, in particular, if in a chain. One of the big reasons for a canceled sale is a lack of confidence that a deal will conclude. Eliminate those concerns by creating ‘sale ready’ clients.
- Educate your clients and set fair/realistic expectations. Most of them don’t do this often, so won’t know what it takes, in today’s industry, to conclude a sale.
-Take the opportunity now, and over the festive period, to refine your plans for 2021 and beyond. Do not underestimate the importance of collaborating with exceptional suppliers. Working with key allies will add serious value to your agency proposition. Your colleagues and your clients will thank you for it.
